オリジナルの生地から新たに作り直されたバンブーは、EW ゴドウィンが 1872 年に壁紙用にデザインしたものを流用したものです。ウィリアム モリスと同様に、ゴドウィンは家の美化に尽力し、オスカー ワイルドは彼を「今世紀のイギリスで最も芸術的な精神の持ち主の 1 人」と呼んでいます。ゴドウィンは日本のデザインにも大きな影響を受けており、作品には竹のモチーフをよく使用していました。
